Factor 5: An Unsafe Home Environment Damages Your Custody Case
In Florida, a dangerous home environment can contribute to a parent losing child custody or losing out on time-sharing agreements. When it comes to decisions related to child custody, safety is the number one priority in most cases.
Any evidence that a home environment is unsafe due to neglect, violence, drug and alcohol addiction, or other issues can put parents at risk of not being awarded full custody or even partial time-sharing rights. In some cases, if the court finds significant evidence that living with either parent puts a child in danger, they may be removed from both parents’ homes and placed in foster care.
