Durell, Fatherhood Involvement – Dadication Episode 1
We at Brandon Legal Group applaud the Ad Council for putting a focus on Fathers that are working to make a difference in their children’s lives, regardless of marital status, regardless of visitation, regardless of child support.
Both men and women can be great parents, and for too long the stereotype has existed that stated “Men Bad, Women Good”. In our practice we have seen phenonimal, and horrifying parents of either gender.
For this brief series, we are #Dadication
What is Dadication? It’s just like dedication, but it means that as a father, you never stop being a dad. There’s no one right way as long as you’re there for your kids, even when it’s not so easy.
Durell:
Speaker 1:
You see certain things get reincarnated in your children. My daughter is very much inspired by my wife’s artistic pursuits. So my daughter started making necklaces. She makes what we call affirmation fashion. I tell her every day that your black is beautiful, your black is beautiful. Your black is beautiful. And if there’s anything better than being beautiful, it’s being smart. And if there’s anything better than being smart, it’s being calm and reaffirming that every day is our method of making sure her chin never drops. My dad wasn’t around. And I remember riding a bike and falling off and cutting myself and me never would just wanting to get back on. People ask, how your children learn how to ride a bike and you didn’t? I didn’t teach them. I just create an environment where they taught themselves. And all I had to do was be there.
