Does the juvenile court only deal with law violations by children?

With the exception of felony traffic offenses, the juvenile court does not deal with cases where your child breaks the law while operating a vehicle. The charges will be dealt with in the court that oversees traffic and motor vehicle offenses. Florida law has provisions that will give state attorneys power to transfer some charges so certain children are prosecuted in criminal court. Children in concert with their parents can ask to be tried as an adult. Some cases are sent to be resolved in programs that are outside of the juvenile court like a diversion program or a community arbitration program.
