Myth #6 – Child Support Payments Ends at 18

Child Support Payments do not necessarily end when the child reaches 18 years of age.

The standard for when child support payments end is

  1. When the child graduates from high school
  2. When the child reaches the age of 18

Whichever comes first.

Additionally, if the child is a special needs child, or there are other exceptional circumstances, child support may be required beyond 19 years of age, as ruled on by the judge.
