Always remember to plan ahead.

“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!”- Benjamin Franklin

This Wednesday the estate planning attorneys at Brandon Legal Group suggest that you should “always remember to plan ahead.” We also reference Benjamin Franklin for a bit of wisdom that relates to this idea. Benjamin Franklin is most noted for being a Founding Father of the United States and a great inventor.

While death is certainly a morbid topic, it is an important (also inevitable) matter that needs to be addressed. You want to make sure your affairs are in order so that when you do go, your family doesn’t have to worry about anything unnecessary. If you already have a will, a trust, the whole nine yards, then you are halfway there. Part II is making sure your estate planning documents are up-to-date. When is the last time you changed your estate plan? Have you taken recent developments into account? With the birth of a child/grandchild, a divorce, a marriage, or a major financial change, you may need to have your estate planning documents adjusted to reflect these changes. It is important to plan now while you are still physically healthy and mentally capable.
