INGRID HOOGLANDER
In 2008 after gaining years of experience under the watchful eyes of her predecessors, including the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office, and multiple privately-owned companies, Ms. Hooglander decided in 2008 to open her private practice that has grown into what Brandon Legal Group is today.
Ms. Hooglander has not only spent significant time in the courtroom, but in the classroom as well. Ms. Hooglander is an accomplished professor who has taught at the University of Phoenix, Kaplan University, Hillsborough Community College, and Saint Leo University. She has taught courses in the areas of business administration, criminal justice, and paralegal studies.
Ms. Hooglander does not just sit behind a desk all day and sleep at night. She enjoys physical fitness, and her weight lifting and kickboxing training has even contributed to a reputation as a “force of nature” in her personal life and her presence in the courtroom.

LUKE MATTSON
After receiving his Juris Doctorate, Mr. Mattson quickly relocated from the Midwest to Florida where he became a member of the Florida Bar in 1998. Mr. Mattson identified his niche in Family Law and has focused his practice in that area since 2000.
In particular, Mr. Mattson often handles matters involving divorce, time-sharing, parenting plans, child support, alimony, paternity, and civil domestic violence. He also drafts, enforces, and defends matters involving both prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements. Mr. Mattson’s extensive experience allows him to litigate matters from the beginning through trial.
Mr. Mattson might look like he’s all business, but you’d be surprised to discover the incredible fun loving attitude he brings to the practice. When outside the court room, Mr. Mattson can often be found watching a Lightning game or riding his bike around downtown Tampa.

There a few different types of retainer in the legal world. A regular ‘retainer’ is a sum of money paid to an attorney to be available when you need them. This could be monthly, annually, or a single payment. It, however, does not actually pay for legal services but rather for their availability. An advanced fee retainer are monies paid to an attorney and kept in a trust account in a ledger under your name for which your accrued legal fees will be charged against. A refurbishment retainer is an advanced fee retainer paid to your trust account when your original advanced fee retainer is almost exhausted.

Can I call the attorney if I need something?
Yes. You can always contact your attorney or paralegal for things that may arise in your case. A lot of communications are done through email, but a phone call is always a valid means of communication with your attorney and depending on the type of case it may be the preferred method.
